The map of the Appalachian Region is contained in the following paper by Elizabeth Hirschmann and Don Panther-Yates. Later in the paper, some other pictures are mentioned but they did not transmit with the paper.

I keep looking at my family tree and I'm having a hard time finding folks who didn't start in this region, on either side!
I am Nancy Sparks Morrison and I am a Melungeon descendant. I am
enthusiastic about genealogy and that is how I found my Melungeon connection.
I also found that I had an inherited illness called
Familial Mediterranean Fever. This illness is thought to be rare in the
U.S but I think it is simply being misdiagnosed as everything under the
sun.
Fibromyalgia and rheumatic-type joint pains are two of the major symptoms in this illness along with a whole lot more.
You can read my story with Familial Mediterranean Fever PLUS a lot of medical documentation and information on the Familial Mediterranean Fever blog.
